Description
At the beginning of the engagement the Capacity Manager, along with the Engagement Management, must review the contract and Service Governance Plan (SGP) to understand the commitments made to the Client with respect to technology capacity. In addition to the contract, the Capacity Manager must also understand the current state of technology capacity (of the Client or incumbent). While planning for business capacity, future business needs for the services must also be understood, so that sufficient capacity to support these services can be planned and designed. The Capacity Manager must create the Technology Capacity Management Procedures, by tailoring standard procedures, using tailoring guidelines. The procedures must be compliant to standards and Client specifics. It should also include procedures around monitoring, reporting key performance indicators, escalation management, capacity optimization, etc. Tools needed for Technology Capacity Management should be selected in this activity. This would also include tools related to monitor the data needed to perform Technology Capacity Management and report on the same. The Capacity Manager must create a comprehensive plan to achieve the required technology capacity in the engagement.
